How do I activate and download a purchased exam:
Follow the built-in Exam Wizard or use the Unlock an exam option, available through Exam Tools in the Boson Exam Environment, to easily activate and download the exams you have purchased through the shopping cart.
Using the Exam wizard:
- Select the Activate a purchased exam option.
- Enter your Activation Key.
- Select the exam(s) you wish to download.
Using the Unlock an exam tool:
- In the Boson Exam Environment, select Exam Tools.
- In Exam Tools, select Unlock an exam.
- Enter your e-mail address, password, and activation key.
- In the Boson Exam Environment, select the My New Exams tab.
- Select the exam(s) you wish to download, and click the Download Exam or Download All button.
How do I find my activated exams:
To easily download your activated exams, select the My New Exams tab in the Boson Exam Environment.
Using the My New Exams tab:
- Select the activated exam(s) you wish to download, and click the Download Exam or Download All button.
How do I download a demo exam:
Select the Get Demos tab in the Boson Exam Environment to easily download the demo exam you wish to preview.
Using the Get Demos tab:
- Select the Get Demos tab.
- Select an exam vendor.
- Select the exam(s) you wish to preview, and click Download Demo.
- To start an exam you have downloaded, either choose to start the demo immediately or select Take an exam in the Exam Wizard.
How do I take an exam:
Follow the built-in Exam Wizard or select the My Exams tab in the Boson Exam Environment to easily start any exam (demo or activated) on your computer.
Using the Exam Wizard:
- Select the Take an exam option.
- Select an exam vendor, and click Next.
- Select the exam you wish to take, and click Next.
- Select a quiz and a test mode, then click Finished.
Using the My Exams tab:
- Select the My Exams tab.
- Select the exam you wish to take, and click Load Exam.
- For a quick start, select a quiz and a test mode, then click Begin.
- For more advanced exam options, open the Exam Settings page by clicking Modify Exam before clicking Begin.
- On the Exam Settings page, customize any of the available settings, then click Done.
- Click Begin to start your custom exam.
How do I save my exam progress:
While taking an exam, you may find it useful to save your progress.
When you are ready:
- Click the File menu.
- Select the Save or Save as option.
- Type a descriptive file name for the exam file to be saved.
- Click the Save button.
Your exam progress has been saved. You may return to the Boson Exam Environment at any time to continue your progress.
How do I load my saved exam:
If you have previously saved your exam progress, you may return at any time to continue.
Using the Saved Exams tab:
- Select the Saved Exams tab.
- Select which exam you would like to load.
- Click Load Saved Exam to continue your exam.
Your exam has been restored, and you may now continue working.
How do I submit a bug/request a feature:
If at any time you experience a problem with the application or you would like to request a feature, please report it using the built-in bug/feedback reporting tool.
Using the Main Menu:
- Select Bug Report/Feature Request from the Feedback menu.
- Enter your real e-mail address and a descriptive summary of the bug/feature.
- Click Submit to send the bug/feature.
Please Note:
When you submit bugs, a more detailed summary will better help us pinpoint the actual problem.
If you find any problems with the actual exam content, please use the Email Author option to address these concerns. Examples of incorrect exam content may include missing answers, incorrect answers or explanations, or an inability to select more than one answer when multiple answers are correct.

How do I retrieve content updates:
The Boson Exam Environment utilizes cutting-edge technology to deliver content updates to your computer. If you are in Online Mode within the Boson Exam Environment, your exam will be checked for updates when you load it. If an update is available, you will be notified and given the ability to retrieve the update.
How do I use the Boson Cleaner
The Boson Cleaner is an application that fixes any problems with corrupted data on your computer. Corrupted data most often occurs due to interruption of network service during content downloads or updates. The Boson Cleaner removes all cached data from the repository on your local computer. Once this has occurred, your Boson Exam Environment will be in the same state as a fresh install. You will have to log in and re-download any exam content that you want to use.
How do I tell the difference between ExSim #1, #2, #3, etc...
Each Boson ExSim product contains a unique question pool based on the published objectives as set forth by the vendor. Upon registering any ExSim, you will be presented with four separate (and totally unique) quizzes containing over 50 questions each. This equates to at least 200 total questions for the entire practice exam.
How do I deal with Software ("Personal") Firewall issues:
The Boson Exam Environment requires a live Internet connection to receive content updates. You must grant the application access to the Internet if/when your software firewall requests it. The application file name is "BosonPracticeTests.exe".
How do I solve "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000135)":
This error indicates that the .NET Framework version 1.1 has not been installed. Please download and install .NET Framework version 1.1
What is a Preview product?
A Preview product is a product that is developed prior to the release of a certification exam.
It is based on the most
current information available from the
certification vendor for the covered exam and is sold during an introductory time period. Preview products
are updated as new exam information becomes available from the vendor.
Purchasing a Preview product entitles the user to the full version once it is
