CCNP Network Simulator & Router
Simulator

NetSim for CCNP 8.0 is
designed to help you learn the Cisco IOS command structure, and it
supports the technologies and skills required for the CCNP certification.
NetSim for CCNP also contains all
of the
NetSim
for CCNA labs, which makes it the best value for individuals
studying for the
CCNA and
CCNP certification exams.
NetSim for CCNP includes new labs for the
ROUTE,
SWITCH
and
TSHOOT technologies. In addition to new
content, NetSim for CCNP 8.0 contains a new and improved interface that
makes completing labs, compiling new labs and designing network
topologies easier than ever before. The network topology, device
consoles and lab instructions can share the screen in NetSim 8.0 with
easy-to-use panes. NetSim 8.0 also supports multiple monitors.
Everything you need to create and compile new labs –
from the NetMap topology designer, to the device configuration window,
to the saving and merging of files – are all in one easily navigable
window. Completing NetSim labs and creating your own labs have never
been so easy.
NetSim
8.0 minimum requirements – NetSim requires one of the
following Operating Systems: Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows
XP.
Etherchannel Now Supported in NetSim
for CCNP 8.0
NetSim for
CCNP now supports Etherchannel in four new SWITCH labs and two new
TSHOOT labs. EtherChannel provides fault-tolerant high-speed links
between network devices where bottlenecks are likely to occur. For
example, if a link in an EtherChannel fails, traffic is redirected from
the failed link to the remaining links in the channel without
intervention. Port-channels can be used to increase the bandwidth
between network devices, and you can deploy it anywhere in the
network.

Absolutely Critical to Success
5/2/2013 11:23:15 AM - Kenneth - Research Triangle Park, NC US
After having been spoiled on Packet Tracer during my preparation for CCNA through the Cisco Networking Academy, I couldn't endure the frustrations of trying to use an open source product popular among engineers.
The Boson NetSim offers a comprehensive tool for training at CCNA and CCNP level as well as developing labs from a published manual. I used this in my preparation for CCNP; it was critical to my success. I recommend it to teammates every week.

Very primitive and lacks many features needed for CCNP tests
4/13/2013 8:48:22 AM - Al - Lexington, MA US
This is just a short list of discovered cons: ------------------ 1. No vtp version 2 support?
Sw2(config)#vtp version ? <1-2> Set the administrative domain VTP version number Sw2(config)#vtp version 2 Sw2(config)#do sh vtp status VTP Version : 2 Configuration Revision : 0 Maximum VLANs supported locally : 64 Number of existing VLANs : 5
VTP Operating Mode : Server VTP Domain Name : cisco VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled VTP V2 Mode : Disabled VTP Traps Generation : Disabled MD5 digest : 0xEE 0xB3 0xDC 0x9F 0xE2 0xE0 0x25 0xDF Configuration last modified by 0.0.0.0 at 3-1-2012 04:55:57 Local updater ID is 0.0.0.0 (no valid interface found) --------------------------
2. Doesn't save a device configuration even after issuing copy run start. Once you saved your topology, closed NetSim, opened it after a while and load a previously saved configuration, you have to start from scratch again.
---------------------------
3. No support for 3560 switches, therefore no Private VLAN configuration, which is covered by CCNP Switch exam. ---------------------------

Boson Netsim 8!
1/12/2013 10:42:56 AM - Bruce - Mattapan, MA US
I can't state how thankful I am to have found such a well developed application! Even though I am in the beginning of my INCD1 labs, it has been really seamless going through the tasks. Thank you Boson team!!!

Activation Nightmare!!!
1/6/2013 11:05:44 PM - andrew - adelaide, AU
customer support picks up support tickets within 24hrs which is good. however the activation process is horrible, countless times i have had to raise support tickets because the product dosent activate. with windows 7 you have to remember to run the application as an admin or it wont work.
the product is VERY good once you get it working, but for the price i'd rather stick to GNS3 or packet tracker.

Unmatched -
10/13/2012 10:51:52 AM - Jason - Kittanning, PA US
NetSim has no competition for Cisco network simulations - it is hands-down, the best! Additionally, the customer support is incredibly responsive and is quick to make corrections (if necessary)and publishing them in updates!
