Instructor-Led Training Course for Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices Part 2 (ICND2)
ICND2 640-816 Training Course DescriptionThis five-day course focuses on providing the skills and knowledge necessary to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium-size branch office Enterprise network, including configuring several switches and routers, connecting to a WAN and implementing network security. ICND Part 2 is recommended training for individuals seeking certification as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
WHAT’S INCLUDED

ICND2 640-816 Training Course ContentAfter completing this course, students will be able to:
- Review how to configure and troubleshoot a small network.
- Expand the switched network from a small LAN to a medium-sized LAN with multiple switches, supporting VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree.
- Describe routing concepts as they apply to a medium-sized network and discuss considerations when implementing routing on the network.
- Configure, verify, and troubleshoot OSPF.
- Configure, verify, and troubleshoot EIGRP.
- Determine how to apply ACLs based on network requirements, and to configure, verify, and troubleshoot ACLs on a medium-sized network.
- Describe when to use NAT or PAT on a medium-sized network, and configure NAT or PAT on routers.
- Identify and implement the appropriate WAN technology based on network requirements.
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTS
" ICND2 takes what you’ve learned in ICND1 and puts you to the test first thing in class. We start off with a small review lab, having the students build a very similar small network to the one they built in ICND1. With this core foundation working, we move right into the heart of Layer 2 switching. From there, we talk about how to secure your switches and then move quickly over to reviewing how a router operates. We also add in implanting Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM), and then we get in-depth in Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP). Here is where the students get a chance to really immerse themselves in real Cisco hardware and dig deep into the labs. Moving forward, we tackle the everyday operation of access control lists (ACLs) and Network Address Translation (NAT): two topics I stress that my students should learn and feel comfortable with. These two features are essentially implemented in almost every single network, including at home! To wrap up the class, we cover Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and virtual private network (VPN) solutions and end the day with discussing wide area network (WAN) technologies including Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) and Frame Relay.
