CCSP Certification Info
On October 19, 2010, Learning@Cisco announced the evolution of the CCSP certification to
CCNP Security. Cisco retired the CCSP exams in April 2011; however, individuals can still obtain a new CCSP certification until October 2011.
Individuals can recertify their existing CCSP certification by following the normal recertification process. In addition, CCSP-certified individuals who have passed recognized CCNP Security exams may be eligible to receive their
CCNP Security certification.
CCSP Certification Prerequisites
CCNA Security Certification OR
CCNA + SND*
OR any
CCIE certification can act as a prerequisite.
*Last day for using this prerequisite is November 17, 2011.
CCSP Certification Required Exams
- 642-617 (FIREWALL) or 642-524 SNAF Retired 4/08/11.
- 642-627 (IPS) or 642-533 IPS v6.0 Retired 4/08/11.
- 642-637 (SECURE) or 642-504 SNRS Retired 4/08/11.
- 642-647 (VPN)
CCSP Recertification
Cisco professional-level certifications (
CCNP,
CCNP Wireless,
CCDP,
CCNP Voice and
CCIP) are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:
- Any current 642-XXX Professional level exam
- Any Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Written Exam
- The current Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) Written Exam
- The current CCDE Practical Exam
- The Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications
