IPS Specialist Certification Info
The Cisco IPS Specialist certification recognizes security professionals who can deploy, configure and troubleshoot the Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) to work well in a complete security solution. The Cisco IPS Specialist is the foundation for individuals who can operate and monitor Cisco IOS Software and IPS technologies to prevent, understand and respond to intrusion attempts.
IPS Specialist Certification Prerequisites
Valid
CCNA Security or
CCNA + SND* or any
CCIE certification can act as a prerequisite.
*Last day for using this prerequisite is November 17, 2011.IPS Specialist Certification Required Exams
642-627 (IPS) or 642-533 IPS**
Retired 5/31/11 ** Past exam versions accepted for three years after date passed.
Cisco IPS Specialist Recertification
Cisco Specialist certifications are valid for two years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:
- A 642-XXX Security professional-level written exam
- The current CCIE written exam
- The current CCDE written exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam
- The Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review
