How to use the 642-832 Practice Exam

ExSim-Max
exam simulations are the best way to know when you are prepared for the real certification test. Explanations in our ExSim-Max products are not limited to explaining why the correct choice is correct; they contain explanations for all of the available choices. Knowing why the choice is correct or incorrect, will provide a better understanding of the concept.
To benefit the most from our TSHOOT practice exam, we recommend that you first gain some hands-on experience either with physical equipment or with our NetSim
Network Simulator for CCNP (
CCNP labs are included with NetSim for CCNP).
Once you have a good understanding of CCNP-level skills and technologies, you are ready to take exam A (1 of 3) included in the ExSim-Max for Cisco TSHOOT 642-832 practice exam. If you pass the first exam on the first attempt, you are most likely ready to take the real exam. If you don’t pass the first time, we’ll help you figure out what you need to brush up on; ExSim-Max score reports will tell you what areas that you should study. Once you have studied up, you can take exam B to gauge your improvement. If you do not pass on your second attempt, do some more studying and then take exam C. We do recommend that you take all three exams included to get the full benefit of the product, even if you pass the first simulation, as this will give you even more confidence going into the real exam.

Boson has done a fantastic job with this product. The interface is clean, works well and, for the most part, is a very good representation of the actual exam.
To pass the exam I used a combination of the Cisco Press CCNP TSHOOT 642-832 Official Certification Guide and this ExSim-Max product- nothing more. I read the book in two weeks and prepared with this software for less than a week. I figured at this point in my certification that I either know the Cisco technology or I don't. Now is the time to think more about a structured approach to troubleshooting the technology than learning the technology itself.
A big benefit of the Boson software is that it gives you the feel of the actual exam and you can develop a few strategies for how to attack certain types of problems. One example is to bring up two router configs, side-by-side on the screen, and compare their settings. Another technique is to ping a router somewhere in the middle of the topology and begin to divide and conquer from a middle point. If I hadn't practiced with this software I may not have done these things in the real exam with the confidence I developed from practicing.
If you're not already in the know; the game is to solve a series of trouble tickets primarily using IOS show commands on the Cisco devices. Each question has three parts where by you identify a problem device, identify the underlying technology category where the problem occurs (e.g. EIGRP, OSPF, VLANs etc) and finally identify what commands will solve the problem. These are all multiple choice questions.
One difference between Boson's exam and the real exam is that I found a question on the actual exam that belongs to a category which didn't exist on the Boson exam at all. There's no VACL category on Boson for instance. Also, the category names on the real exam are named slightly differently from Boson's.
Just an FYI - I also had a problem on the real exam where some of the potential answers were scrolled off the answer windows (below the visible area). I didn't realize I could scroll down in this window and none of the Boson questions had this sort of thing. Consequently, on one question I wasted a lot of time (even though I knew the answer) just looking for the answer category on the screen. I felt very stupid but I did eventually find it. If you're used to working with real Cisco gear, you will find the show and debug commands somewhat limited. This is not just a limitation of Boson, these commands are also very limited on the real exam. It's the one place where this very cool new exam type falls short.
Overall, I give the Boson product a 9.5 out of 10. I don't think I would have passed the exam without it and I don't think any other vendor has a simulated exam for TSHOOT that even comes close to this quality. Thank you Boson. You've done a great job.

642-832 Review
2/29/2012 10:31:49 PM - Daniel - Palo Alto, CA US
Normally I don't leave product reviews, but in this case I felt that it was necessary. This product gives a very realistic experience of what can be expected during the real exam. After purchasing this and studying the practice questions I passed the real TSHOOT exam with flying colors. This is an invaluable tool for anyone wanting to master the CCNP TSHOOT exam. Thank you Boson. (This review may sound fake by the amount of praise, but I assure you it is real.)

Very realistic exam. Went through the practice exam a few times. No problems passing the real exam the first time.
Also, I use this to test candidates for the networking positions at my company (only if the candidate doesn't know boson.) Great way to see if someone really knows networking. And you don't have to set up a practice lab or have the candidate muck around production.
