Product Reviews: NetSim for Cisco 200-301 CCNA

Has made understanding networking and troubleshooting a whole lot easier. Used in conjunction with Jeremy IT CCNA videos!

I recently passed my CCNA exam thanks to this software. The labs here are more in-depth than what the exam's labs were. Due to this fact, I was able to breeze through the labs out of exams. Best training material you can buy.

At first I was skeptical because during the demo I was unable to split the screen in half to view the instructions and devices like Jeremy does in his IT lab. However, I noticed if I use dual monitors I can open the devices on one screen and have the instructions on the other screen. I feel like I am learning a lot to reinforce my prior learning. Some commands don't work properly. But nothing too drastic. For instance, I typed "show interface switchport" and saw the output. But when I type "show interface sw" it doesn't show correctly like it does when I type out the word switchport, even though it's the only command that starts with sw. Overall, I think it's a great foundation to lab more and get more experience. The 3-month subscription is what led me to purchase. I was on the fence about the 1-year purchase.

Great platform to learn networking,especially the practical labs which have everything as a one stop shop to practise networking configs. Boson should look at developing Juniper and Fortinet sims aswell and develop a cross vendor course that covers different vendors in a working network

I used Netsim for CCNA studies to get hands on and to learn what a CLI looks like. i recommend it to everyone looking for a way to start CCNA. i am using Netsim for my ENCOR studies now and although it has its limitations since it is not a full emulation, it is by far the best online resource for getting exposed to labs and networking concepts. pair this with the courseware, some packet tracer and the Cisco Press books and you have a great set of learning needed to pass.

Excellent clear instructions with topologies and commands given. After you have finished labs are graded. Using them makes me feel confident to take CCNA exams.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Labs that make you feel like you are in a classroom with complete working nodes that make you feel like you have actual hardware you're working with. Totally awesome.

Very in depth

Excellent product and was extremely helpful for passing my CCNA.

My experience so far has been very positive. The labs are well-structured and detailed, making them easy to follow—even for beginners. They not only guide you through the configuration steps but also explain the underlying concepts, including why certain configurations work and why others don’t. I would highly recommend these labs to anyone new to the CLI or preparing for the CCNA certification.

NetSim was essential for my CCNA prep. The labs were clear, realistic, and helped me get comfortable with the CLI. By practicing with these labs, I was able to retain the commands, not just to pass the test, but to use every day at work.

Netsim is the best, from the content of the LAB to the LAB solution, this is all that I need for the CCNA.

So far, I've been really enjoying Netsim. I feel like I'm retaining the information in the labs. I learn by doing and I find repetition makes it click. I like that they give you the how and why of the exercises. It reinforces your understanding. It's all about learning at the end of the day.

I passed by CCNA in early October 2024 but it took a while to get my first NOC job. I started a couple of weeks ago, and I'm using your software to review/reinforce what I did to earn the CCNA. I wish I had used this the first time instead of relying on Packet Tracer. I like your software.

The labs in the Netsim are a great studying tool. You practice what you've learned and are perfect for solidifying your knowledge. I was impressed by the depth they went into explaining the logic behind every command. On my CCNA exam, I got labs that were far easier than the ones here. Another testimony of how good the NetSim is for preparing for the actual exam.

Great product overall. However, some requirements can be challenging to understand due to vague or ambiguous language. That said, I consider this a valuable part of the preparation process, as it mirrors the ambiguity that may be encountered in actual exam questions

I am amazed to how the labs makes me understand the material better than reading and any other sources I have used so far.

I have experience using NetSim Network Simulator for learning and practicing network configurations and troubleshooting in a lab environment. It’s an excellent tool for simulating various networking scenarios, including complex routing, switching, and security configurations. I used it primarily to practice for Cisco certifications, where it allowed me to work on scenarios involving protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and various LAN/WAN technologies. The simulation is close to real-world environments, which helped solidify my understanding of networking concepts without the need for physical hardware.

NetSim excels in providing a structured, step-by-step learning experience, which is fantastic for building muscle memory through guided practice. However, this hand-holding approach somewhat hinders the development of independent CLI navigation and troubleshooting skills crucial for real-world scenarios and exams. The sudden absence of IP tables in certain sections leaves users like me at a loss, unprepared to recall or discover network configurations independently. To truly prepare for certification exams, NetSim should gradually reduce these aids, encouraging users to rely on their memory and CLI navigation skills more, simulating the exam environment where such crutches are absent. I wish I could also hide the command summary tables. They are the first thing you see when scrolling down the Lab Document. Rating: 3 stars – Effective for guided learning but needs to foster more independent practice for comprehensive exam readiness.

Awesome exprience, exactly what i needed to boost my knowledge on hands on practise

I should have used the trial before purchasing for the year. I expected a standalone application that a friend of mine used. It was my fault for not investigating better. It took some time to realize, that despite there being history of when I stated labs that they can't be opened where I started. I am required to manually save an exam that I want to return to.

Key factors: Detailed explanations of commands and topics in labs, The design of the labs themselves, and how close the sim is to real CISCO products. I just wish there was more wireless study here. I find the network simulator incredibly helpful. It's impossible to gain familiarity simply by reading and memorizing commands. At least for the vast majority of us. To be able to spend significant time with each lab at the command line and to be able to troubleshoot as you go along, degrading functionality, and the ability to open terminals and separate windows allows for an easeful learning experience for material that is quite challenging. I have yet to take my CCNA exam but I'm certain that I would not be able to pass it without the help from boson and the network simulator.

Great labs that cover all of the CCNA topics. The details within the labs are very helpful in understanding the topics. I would only recommend interface labels within the topology. I will highly recommend NetSim to any preparing for the CCNA.

Not bad, but i would appreciate more labs, possibility to correct mistakes and give feedback and option to point mistakes out so far. I would appreciate as well, if it were the option to open a lab within section where it would be possible to see an assignment, in the next section IP table, in the next section CLI of a router and simply have a sight about information what i need. What's more, in this day and age of AI, would it be such a big deal to upload labs in other languages (Czech, Slovak, German, etc.)?

Simply excellent. I like they added support for copy-pasting within the web interface. Students no longer have to type out all the IP addresses.

So far the experience is great! I get to practice anytime I want, and the simulators and labs are very helpful for developing the muscle memory of all the basics making some of the more simple and easily forgettable commands second nature.

NetSim Network Simulator is a great asset in working towards your CCNA accreditation. The tool enables you to practice your theoretical knowledge with various exercises. Not only do the exercises offer a great studying tool with great explanations. The exercises are also a great representation for the level of difficulty you will encounter at the CCNA Exam.  

I used both the legacy labs and the recently updated labs. Both were amazing products.

No video for explaining things, but materials good

Its one thing to pick an answer, but in reality in the real world there wont be choice a b or c. Boson Labs is a chance to practice and enforce your skills in a calm learning environment. You do not want to try to figure it out when the network is down and there is a network outage. Do it with Boson!

Not A fan that it times out and restarts your progress if you take too long on a lab. Otherwise a good software.

This is a fantastic tool to use in your preparation leading to taking the CCNA 200-301 certification exam. There is no better way to understand device configurations and to practice the many different show commands for configuration verification. 100% recommend. Note: The only issue I encountered with this product is that sometimes there is more than one way to complete the configurations, but the scoring only supports a particular way. So, you could configure it correctly and it will say you got it wrong. Not a huge deal, but just be aware.

It was all I wanted to do. Is not going to teach you how it works but it's great to keep you doing things related to the topics. Worth the money. I passed the exam on Feb 2022

Great product.

I will have to say this is the best lab sim I have used. I completed NetAcad in school a few years ago and with work and kids did not have time to take my CCNA test. I will say I am learning so much more with Boson NetSim and plan on purchasing more products in the near future. I have tried other Lab Simulators and this is by far the best.

Covers all the fundamental knowledge needed for the basic foundations that make the CCNA exam at its core. However, the wireless questions encountered fell very short compared to the practical knowledge that was needed. Had to read Cisco whitepapers to fill that gap.

Best simulator that helped me mater everything I needed to know for the exam

I have a busy schedule but I have to find time to let others know of my personal experience with Boson. My overall satisfaction with this course is extremely positive. They have exceeded my expectations every time. They have trained staff that respond to your questions, if any, in a timely manner. I have recommended Boson to some of friends already. I am completely satisfied from day one. I plan to continue to use Boson in the future.

The labs cover almost all the topics.I give 4 stars because they could add a lab for dhcp snooping and dai.
